Advice from our Doctors
Element Fitness Magazine: Pet Health by Dr. Varela
As the head veterinarian at Camino Al Norte Animal Hospital here in North Las Vegas, I try to emphasize to all my clients the importance of developing an exercise routine with their dogs so they remain healthy and in shape. Unfortunately, being active with your pet outdoors during our notoriously hot summer months can lead to heat stroke, which occurs when a dog loses its ability to regulate its body temperature. Luckily, heat stroke is preventable if you take precautions and follow some simple rules.
One of my favorite things to see at Camino Al Norte Animal Hospital is someone bringing in their brand new puppy for their first set of vaccines. It always brightens my day to see how excited the new owner is and of course, how cute the new puppy is! Unfortunately each year many of these new puppies don’t make it to the veterinary clinic until they become very sick. Most commonly with a very deadly disease called Parvo.
Deciding to raise a kitten is a very exciting time for every pet owner, but it’s also important to remember that it can be a big undertaking.
